I love French toast as a treat sometimes on the weekend but let’s face it, it is quite fatty. I have come up with a similar, cleaner and protein richer version. I regularly share with you guys how much I struggle to get enough protein, I’ve been trying to add a bit more into my diet and I have really noticed how it changed my physique. I don't eat that much meat and I really don't like straight protein shakes, finding them bulky, heavy and very boring.

So my only option is to combine my protein in to my cooking and baking. You can make this French toast with any type of bread you have, and if you are going gluten free that’s fine too. This is an easy and quick way to get your protein whilst enjoying a very traditional breakfast.

What you need to make it:

  • 3 Egg Whites

  • 1 tsp Cinnamon

  • 2 Slices of bread

  • 1 scoop of protein (I used Vanilla)


Take your two slices of bread (just use anything you have)

Separate your eggs and put them in a mixing bowl. Give them a little whisk until they are smooth.


Add the cinnamon and the protein powder and mix again.

Spray some lo cal or pop some butter in to your pan and heat to a medium heat. Then you want to dunk your bread.

Let it absorb as much on one side as it will and then turn it over to absorb more again.



Then you want to pop it in to your hot pan, it won't take long to seal on one side and then you want to turn it over on to the other side.


I served mine with golden syrup (not very clean I know) and some fresh blueberries, this was so tasty and protein rich at the same time which in my eyes is a winner!
